Rich Toon has the largest insurance company bad faith jury verdict in Oklahoma history by an individual against an insurance company – $92,426,640.00. On November 15, 2024, Rich received the honor of Trial Lawyer of the Year. For more than 30 years, Rich Toon has provided legal representation in over 1000 injury-related claims. Rich has been on the Super Lawyers list every year since 2013 (each year, no more than 5% of the lawyers in Oklahoma are selected to receive this honor). He is a licensed attorney in the United States Supreme Court, The United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, The United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, Muskogee (Creek) Nation District Court, and all Federal and State Courts in Oklahoma. He has received local and national attention for his work. He is often asked to speak at seminars to large groups of trial lawyers and other groups on various legal issues. Rich attended undergraduate studies at The University of Iowa until transferring and graduating with a B.A. from S.M.U. in Dallas, Texas in 1990. In 1991, he began law school at The University of Tulsa College of Law. During law school, he worked as a legal intern for the Federal Election Commission in Washington, D.C., and as a legal intern for State Insurance Fund in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1994, he graduated from The University of Tulsa College of Law. Since that time, he has practiced law. His primary practice areas involve wrongful death, insurance company bad faith, and complex litigation.
Rich enjoys the outdoors and training Billie Lou, his favorite fox red Labrador, TRON, his favorite rescue dog, and Bobby James, a Belgian Malinois who joined the family in May 2024.
